Retail training: associate onboarding without overloading the manager

With high turnover and peak seasons, every new associate learns the essentials in 60-to-90-second lessons on their phone, with nothing to install. Your store manager stops repeating the same orientation every week and sees who on the team is up to date.

The short answer

How to train store staff when turnover is high

In retail, training competes with the sales floor: people come and go all year, many arrive at once in peak season, and the manager ends up explaining the same thing to every new hire, between one customer and the next.

Simón standardizes that onboarding: it turns your orientation manual into 60-to-90-second micro-lessons, takes them to each associate's phone browser, where they sign in with a phone number or employee ID and a PIN, and shows you by store who finished, who understood and who hasn't signed in.

That way every new hire gets the same orientation from their first shift, and the manager's time goes to coaching on the floor, not to repeating the theory.

On the sales floor

Learning between one customer and the next

According to our impact report for the first half of 2026, the typical Simón user is in their first three months on the job, and a lack of operational clarity in those months tends to turn into mistakes, frustration and early exits.

That is why each lesson takes about a minute and is done on the phone, with review questions and a chance to retry, without pulling anyone off the floor.

  • One topic per lesson: checkout, service, product or store policies.
  • Short, compressed video, optimized for slow networks and mobile data.
  • Your brand in the app, so orientation feels like part of the company.

What Simón solves in store

Standardized onboarding

The orientation course is built once from your manual, and every new hire takes it the same way, in any store and on any shift.

Bulk sign-ups for peak season

Load all your staff from Excel or share a link with a QR code per store, so each associate registers straight into their area.

No corporate email, no app

Each associate signs in from the phone's browser with a phone number or employee ID and a PIN. It works the same for permanent and temporary staff.

The manager sees their store

As supervisor of their area, the manager sees who hasn't signed in, who stalled and which questions the team misses, and gets a daily summary at 6 p.m.

Seasonal campaigns in short pieces

Publish a standalone video, carousel or infographic, scheduled for the date and aimed only at the stores it applies to, and see who still hasn't opened it.

Your manual, turned into a course

Upload the orientation manual or slide deck and Simón writes the micro-lessons, the avatar video and the questions. Your team approves before publishing.

For every store manager

Every evening, the manager knows who's behind

At 6 p.m., every supervisor gets a notification with how many people on their team finished each course. In the report they see the list by person, filtered to whoever hasn't started, so floor coaching goes straight to who needs it.

Step by step

How orientation reaches a new associate

  1. Convert your manual

Policies, service, checkout and product: Simón turns them into micro-lessons your team reviews and approves.

  2. Sign people up in bulk or by QR

One Excel upload for the season, or each store's QR code for people who join mid-month.

  3. Learn during the shift

60-to-90-second lessons on the phone, with review questions and retries.

  4. Follow-up without meetings

The manager sees their team and you see every store, by region and area, on the dashboard.

Frequently asked questions about retail training

How do you onboard sales associates when turnover is high?

By standardizing orientation into a short course each person takes on their phone from the first shift. With Simón the course is built once from your manual, sign-ups happen by Excel or QR code, and the manager sees who is up to date without organizing sessions.

Is Simón an LMS for retail?

It covers what a retail LMS handles on the floor: courses, assessments, reports by store and Excel export. If you already have an LMS, they can coexist: Simón exports courses as SCORM 1.2 and 2004 to load them there.

Do associates have to download an app?

No. It works as a PWA, straight from the phone's browser, with a phone number or employee ID and a PIN. Coming soon: native Android and iPhone apps as well, with courses people can download to watch offline.

What happens in peak season, when many people join at once?

You load staff from Excel, up to 1,000 people per file when they sign in with a PIN, or share each store's link and QR code. Each person lands in their area and sees only the courses meant for them.

What happens when someone leaves the company?

You archive them from the portal: their open sessions close right away, they can no longer sign in and their training history is kept.

How long until the orientation course is ready?

In under an hour you can have a complete course ready to publish from a manual or slide deck you already have. The exact time depends on how extensive you need it to be.
