Comparison

Simón vs LMS and Moodle: training for frontline staff

Simón is the channel to the people on the floor, on the route or at the branch: it takes courses and announcements to their phones with no app or email, shows you who saw and understood them, and sends course completions to your LMS so they are on record. Your LMS stays the official record: you don't have to choose.

The short answer

Do you need another LMS for frontline staff, or something that works alongside yours?

Simón reaches where your LMS doesn't: promoters and store, route or branch staff with no LMS user, no corporate email and no computer. It takes every course or announcement to their phones, with a notification and at the time you schedule; it opens in the browser with a phone number or employee ID and a PIN, and shows you who saw it and, for courses, who finished it and who understood it, by area and branch.

An LMS such as SAP SuccessFactors, Workday, Cornerstone, Docebo or Moodle is the system of record: it enrolls, assesses and keeps the history of everyone with an account. Formal, certifiable training can stay there.

If you were looking for a Moodle alternative for companies with frontline staff, you don't need to replace it: Simón delivers, follows up and measures, your LMS keeps the record, and every course finished in Simón reaches the employee's history in SAP SuccessFactors Learning.

How they coexist

Your LMS stores; Simón delivers and measures

SAP SuccessFactors Learning connector

When someone finishes a course in Simón, the completion reaches their SuccessFactors history within minutes, through the API or a file. Your people learn in Simón and the official record stays in your LMS.

Single sign-on (SSO)

Your people sign in with their corporate account through SAML 2.0 or OIDC and are set up on their first sign-in.

Access without corporate email

People without a corporate account sign in with a phone number or employee ID and a PIN, from a link or a QR code.

Reports you can export

Compliance by area, branch and person in Excel or CSV, with scheduled delivery and a daily summary for each supervisor.

API to sync users

Your systems add and remove staff, one by one or in bulk, and read courses, progress and completions.

SCORM, if your LMS is the only way in

Any course can be exported as a SCORM 1.2 or 2004 package, with video, assessments and scoring. It's the last resort: inside the LMS the course loses Simón's notifications, scheduling and follow-up.

SCORM or connector

Why not just load the courses into the LMS as SCORM?

You can, and it's the way out when your company isn't going to change how it delivers training. But inside the LMS the course once again depends on each person having a user and going in to look for it.

With the connector, your team uses Simón and the LMS receives the result: the completion is recorded in SuccessFactors and you keep everything that makes content get seen and measured on the floor.

  • Phone notifications when you publish, and scheduled sends by area or branch
  • Standalone announcements, like the monthly promotion, with the list of who saw them
  • Likes, saves and comments that show you which content interests your people
  • Comprehension by question and by branch, not just the final score

Frequently asked questions about Simón and your LMS

Does Simón replace our LMS?

It doesn't have to: Simón takes courses and announcements to the floor, follows up on them by area and branch and sends course completions back to your LMS, which keeps holding formal, certifiable training.

Is Simón a Moodle alternative for companies?

For frontline staff, yes: Simón writes the course from your material and takes it to the phone with nothing to install, and formal training can stay in Moodle. Moodle has no license fee, but hosting, implementation and authoring hours do, and workers have to come to it with an app and a user.

What should an LMS for frontline staff or retail have?

It should reach the phone without asking for an email or a computer, and measure by branch. In Simón you organize the operation in areas and sub-areas (region, district, store), see compliance in each one, and every supervisor gets a daily summary of how many people completed each course.

Does Simón integrate with SAP SuccessFactors?

Yes. When someone finishes a course in Simón, the completion reaches their SuccessFactors Learning history within minutes through the API, or with the Learning History Connector file. That way your people learn in Simón, with notifications and follow-up, and the official record stays in your LMS. If you'd rather load the courses into the LMS, they also export as SCORM.

What about Workday, Cornerstone, Docebo or Moodle?

They connect through SSO with SAML 2.0 or OIDC and through Simón's API to sync users and read progress; if your LMS imports them, also with SCORM 1.2 or 2004 packages. Sending completions directly to the employee's history is available with SAP SuccessFactors.
